Carnivore Candy

Video Review of Bacon Jerky

Welcome to the Jerky Wrangler! Here with a backdrop of the mightiest carnivore of all time; the mighty T-Rex. I thought this would be the perfect place to review Carnivore Candy. Carnivore Candy is a company that produces a line of beef jerky, but this happens to be their line of bacon jerky, that I’m going to review today. I just first want to thank Peter, a friend of mine, for finding these. He found five different varieties. He wrangled them up himself and donated them to the cause. So thanks, Peter, for finding these for me. Now, I’ve tried all the varieties already. I’ve tried the Old-fashioned Maple, Honey Pepper style, Jalapeno, Applewood, and spicy Sriracha. Those are the five varieties that they make of the bacon jerky.

Now, I want to say that they all fall in right about at a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10. The reason I say that is because bacon, for most people, is going to be a very personal type of thing. I know for myself, the best experience of bacon is as a part of breakfast, with your bacon and eggs, hash browns, and all these things put together. And also, I want the bacon hot off the griddle, and I want it hot and crispy. In a package like this, you just can’t really duplicate that. All the different flavors are just different, and it’s really going to come down to what you like.

The spicy Sriracha they have, it truly is spicy and has a serious Sriracha flavor. If you like spicy hot Sriracha on bacon, this was pretty good. And then the old-fashioned maple was really like a candy, with maple syrup covered over that bacon and was almost candy-like, to me. Then the one that had the closest to what would be like breakfast style bacon was the Applewood. The Applewood was closer to that in regard to the flavor. The honey pepper was very mild, and mostly a solid bacon behind it. The last one here that I tried was the Jalapeno. It was very mild. It wasn’t hot at all. It was mostly bacon flavoring.

1to10 scale

But, again, they’re all going to fall in at a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10. That’s because, not being off of a griddle, they’re not hot and they’re not crispy, but it is bacon so it was good. If you’re a real bacon lover than you might find a variety that you really enjoy. I’ll leave you with that, and thanks for watching the Jerky Wrangler!
